Guiding Question: How can casts be redesigned to enhance the experience of people sustaining a fracture?

Research shows fractured bones occur to everyone at least twice in the span of their lifetime! Additionally, current medical casts used to treat fractures are commonly subjected to being disliked for their robustness, smell, and lack of comfort. As a result of my interest in medicine, engineering, and helping people, I decided to make this problem my topic for my Capstone Project. I completed many hours learning from my mentor. We had brainstorming sessions, discussions, and conversations through FaceTime on a weekly basis. My final product was a new concept of a medical cast that is more flexible, comfortable, and provides the user with information to track the progress of their recovery. I have conceived a clearer vision of what I wanted to pursue in life through the experience of completing this project.
